Elle South Africa – February 2017

ElleSkwachàys (pronounced skwatch-eyes) A lodge and residence at 31 West Pender Street, Skwachàys is a fair trade gallery, boutique hotel and an urban Aboriginal artist residence. It provides 24 shelter rate apartments for Aboriginal people at risk of homelessness and two social enterprises that support the Society’s mission and financial sustainability. The hotel units have been transformed with the assistance of a team of artists and designers and the decor  unique to each room is simply incredible. Also in the building you’ll find a rooftop sweat lodge and smudge room used for spiritual cleansing, studio and workshop production space and  a commercial kitchen. Skwachàys is not a stay; it’s an experience.
